Hack and Libby's daughter Anna and her husband Tony are the owners of TW Boons' restaurant in downtown Greenwood. It was great to see them.

After they left, Jake, his wife Lainee and their 2 kids stopped by. Lainee was another one of the homeschool group and is amassage therapist. I didn't know it, but Jake has a music video that I got to watch while I was there. I was surprised that it had a country twang, but it was really good!

As we visited I told Libby that I want to learn the Carolina Shag, the wonderful beach music dance from that is the official SC dance and is so often seen in N. Myrtle Beach, SC. Libby and Jake did a few steps for me which was fun to watch.

I got to spend some time with Jake as he practiced his
guitar in the barn and we talked music. They invited me to a fund raiser they
were doing Monday afternoon and I gladly accepted. I had not heard them since
they played for Jeanette's 18th birthday in Greenwood.
22nd Monday This morning I got together with Tim for a visit. We stayed till nearly
lunch time and I had to hurry off for a lunch appointment with Boo.
Tim & me after breakfast
Boo Boo is one of those special people that God
brings into our lives from time to time. Like Tim & Kim from VA., I barely
knew her, yet we have kept in touch over the years. I first met her and her
husband when we went snow skiing together in Utah (I think). They were members
of the Greenwood Ski Club as were Belinda and I. Since I had not seen her in
years, I asked if we could have lunch together. She agreed and I asked her to
pick the place. She said she knew a wonderful restaurant that was downtown. When
I met her, I realized it was T W Boons, the restaurant that Anna & Tony own.
They were both there as was Libby! I love how God gives us “coincidences”.
Boo works for the Greenwood Genetic Center. Here is what their web
site says about them: “Since 1974, the Greenwood Genetic Center has been a
leader in the delivery of genetic services, committed to: Diagnosing genetic conditions, Counseling
individuals and families, Researching the causes of birth defects and genetic
diseases <and> Educating health care providers, teachers, and the public
about genetics.” Boo is fascinating to talk to and we had a fun visit. She
reminded me that her husband G had gone on a mission trip to Alaska in '96, the
same year we went to France , and that was another reason we had connected. Boo
also told me that their 2 daughters are growing up. B.J is now 15 and Laurie is
17. I have no idea how we got on the subject, but she also told me that between
high school and college she painted houses. She also got a job at a Shoney's
restaurant. The boss hired her w/o asking what her future plans were. He assumed
(not smart) she was going to stay there and was hiring to replace the girls that
were going to college in the fall. He never conveyed this, and she only wanted
the job until her college started in the fall. As she talked to some of the
other employees, the word got back to the manager and she lost her job after 7
hours, at which point she went back to painting houses. At the end of the summer
while painting a house beige, she was moving a ladder and had left the pan and
roller on the top of the ladder. Unfortunately, this time it tipped and spilled
on her head. She did have a hat on, but it dripped through the hat, so as she
went off to college she had streaked beige hair. We talked for a bit about my
newsletter I write and she told me she forwards a copy to her friend Penny who
has twin daughters named Heather & Ashley. How flattering!

After Boo left, I walked around the restaurant and looked at all the wonderful
photographs on the walls. I also found out that they carry Nathan's Chocolate
Chip Bread. I had never heard about this before. Seems that Nathan is a 7 year
old that has been featured in magazines and the Food network for his creative
cooking skills. Their web site gives
more info.
*Inn on the Square* It was starting to rain as I left T W Boons. I
had wanted to find somewhere that had a wireless connection to check my e-mail.
I had called the library. They said that the Inn on the Square ( http://www.innonthesquaresc.com/)
has wireless Internet. The Inn is a charming hotel in downtown Greenwood that
feels more like a small European hotel. I have fond memories of eating at their
restaurant. When Jeanette had her 18^th birthday, we took her there for supper.
We had met Pascal, the head chef, on a ski trip to Switzerland. I called and
told him we were coming on her birthday and could he do something special. I
expected to get a usual desert with her name on it. Instead, he MADE from
scratch a baby grand piano out of chocolate!!! It was gorgeous and the top was
elevated by a toothpick. Oh I forgot to tell you that he was a trained French
chef. I would have gone to speak to him, but he now has his own restaurant
somewhere in Greenwood. Today when I went there, they told me I was welcome to
sit in the lobby and use their connection. Well for some reason, I could not
connect. Sigh!
