Bill   I then went over to see a friend that is a great portrait photographer and has been a real inspiration to me, as well as a good friend. While I was there, Bill said I could use his DSL connection. Therefore I was able to download my e-mails as well as visit him. While we talked, his youngest daughter Elizabeth came in. She has grown up since I last saw her and is beautiful. No, I did not get any pictures of either of them, but wish I had. It was so good to see him. He is the only one I can really talk photography with and is on a similar wave length as me, so I really connect with him. Unfortunately, our visit was way too short since I had to leave to get to Hack's concert. To get in free, I had to be there early. Since it was raining when I arrived, Bill let me park in his garage. Unfortunately, as I left, it was still raining and continued all the way over to the concert.

It was so fun seeing the band play, hearing Jake sing and play, and visit with Libby. She showed me the couples that were dancing the Shag properly as well as those that were not.

Larry & Billie  When I got to Ted & Connie's that night, I was told to call Larry & Billie. I had wanted to see them while I was here, but they are in the process of fixing up a house to move into and we had a hard time connecting. I had known them from church and their daughter Leah had home schooled with our girls. Even though it was late, they invited me over and I accepted. Since it was raining, Ted let me borrow his truck. Their whole family has recently moved back from the Philippines where they lived for the past 8 years. Larry is a doctor and they went there to help a friend start a medical clinic outside of Manila. Now that they are back, they are having to start over and find a home, start a new practice, etc. While they were in the Philippines, they adopted 2 boys Joshua and Caleb. I got to meet the boys for the first time.

Leah and her husband Kristian were there too, so I got a a brief visit with her. They have moved back from Norway, where Kristian is from and they have lived since getting married. Leah has just got her massage therapist license and Kristian is getting ready to go to Columbia International University Bible college. Before I left, I got a few minutes to visit with Larry. He had had a LONG day and was obviously exhausted, but his gentle spirit was still evident. I wish we had had longer to visit when he was not so tired. We talked some about about a number of things such as how beautiful Thailand is and he showed me gorgeous pictures to confirm it. We also talked about Dr Paul Brand, an amazing physician and expert on leprosy who Larry had once met. I had just read about him in Philip Yancey's fascinating book called Soul Survivor  in which Yancey writes about people that impacted his life, including Dr Brand.
